for our fourth release we decided to take one of our favourite tracks from the discos de lata catalogue and give it to some friends to remix it. the tracks is sour mood by xpansul and damian schwartz.on side a, the capo of the new sond from chicago, billy dalessandro adds all that funk he has, with that remarkable chicago flavour and a subtle touch of acid. a solid track that keeps the hypnotic vibe of the original adding a tension that takes it to peak time territory. on side b, spanish techno master, alex under, joins forces with super talented argentinean producer leo gruenbaum, aka gruenbox, to deliver a piece of strong funky techno. the deep bass and groovy percussions are the foundations for a progression of hypnotic elements that make this a track a sure killer. we love techno!

from the discos capablanca guys a new project! los massieras are a reality only in your 70s boogie state of mind! this re-edit project formed by two berliner djs aims to bring a fresh approach to the art of bastardization. boogity boogity boogity is their first ep, which also launches the new (velvet) underground label bananamania. each track is quite different, from the floor-oriented boogie title track, to the mutant disco of >bananamania<, to the psychedelic delirium that is >shroom heaven<, which has already gained instant fans such as lovefingers.

these two fellas from upstate wanted to party, so we met downtown at the club later that night... fresh off the mystery meat imprints auspicious debut comes ncams double header deep house excursion. comprised of nick chacona and anthony mansfield, the bi coastal duo have reworked seemingly untouchable bits of discos past to come up with two sublime housey reworks. handle this is a firm favorite of one todd terje, and its no wonder what with its slow, hypnotic build. nick and anthony strip down a prelude classic to its core elements to create an otherworldly rework, teasing the female vox before they let loose midway through. the bongers is a not so subtle nod to the original source material, again with the boys retooling a classic from the prelude catalogue with dazzling results.

disconet was created as subscription program service, which professionally selected and mixed disco music for discotheque djs, mobile discos and radio stations. disconet is called as the granddaddy of all remix services and provided mixed/segued dj dance sets, not only to make the djs job a little bit easier, but to expose club goers to new music. the djs spinning at the height of the disco era were given access to a new creative tool - a different interpretation of current dance tunes to wow club goers. originally, the disconet records were to be issued on a monthly basis which were limited to 1000 - 1500 copies of each volume. the first disconet record was released in october 1977. disconet team at that time was: tom savarese, bobby dj guttadaro and kevin guilmet as well as mike wilkinson. tom, bobby and kevin were dj legends, who had already been awarded with the dj of the year title by billboard. these greatest hits volumes contain their finest work, the original licensed disco edits of all the floor fillers of the time that have been re issued for your listening pleasure. expect many more volumes in the near future.

j gorton is a seattle based producer and dj who has drawn on his vast knowledge of discos dark underbelly to put together these outstanding edits of lesser known, but no less wonderful cuts from the heyday. his informative and well respected american athlete blog has become an addictive and invaluable resource for all eager disciples of the good groove, shining a light on the often forgotten tracks which fell between the cracks of the mirrorball. cabana disco vol. 01, is the first in a series of ridiculously limted (200 copies) 12s. the series starts off with mr. les stache reworking three amazing rarities which include gepy & gepys 1979 disco classic african love song, alongside this sits an obscure cut from kurt hauensteins (of supermax) late 70s disco group bamboo, as well as the 1979 mid-tempo cosmic disco classic livin in the jungle by john tropea. this is an absolute essential for any disco enthusiast.

fmbe starts with a south american influenced track called >geografia privada< from blanali. you find a revisioned and remixed version of this track by the most innovative artist mikael stravostrand (sunset discos/sushitech/mo ferrys prod.). the remix have completely different characters. then supported bye new fresh italian producer robert pedrini with his >mission to mars< flypping and minimal sound. fmbe presents a crazy afterhour track for the wild lovers and the mega morning session. played out by the likes of konrad black (wagon repair), mikael stravostrand, easychanges (foundsound stock 5)

these hand-picked tracks are now available on a dj-friendly 2-sided-4-tracks-vinyl-ep and let me tell you, they are well worth the extra investment. the first of the bunch starts off with big man lexys fancy girl, an ever-growing minimal techy peak-time-pusher with a hushed vocal-sample, some anaologue signal sounds and a futuristic and pumping beat. add a great distorted melody to this on the breakdown and the dancefloor will thank you for putting this on: they will go mental! after this introduction, its the newcomers mickey monzza & joseph discos turn with their equally stimulating track lonely. this is a great modern piece of pumping dub techno with a straight-forward attitude. the hi-hats on this tune are mesmerezing, the clappy snares and sirens perfectly placed and the subtle dubby and groovy melody an ideal antithesis to this hectically moving tune. simply nice! but hold on, there is more to come. on the flip there is hamburgs house impressario h.o.s.h. with his track ben johnson and whether this title is a reference to the legendary sportsman or not, its a pretty record-worthy track: wonderful little stabs and vocal sounds and a bassline so warm and groovy it makes your heart melt. then when the breakdown hits you with its long and winding signal sound, the dancefloor will already be bathing in a floor filled with sweet happiness. this is truely delicious! the two newcomers and residents at hive club in zurich animaltrainer have the honour to finish off this ep with their oily tech-house-anthem talkshow, a superb main-floor-peak-time-melody-affair.
